Welcome back to another strange, yet wonderful edition of the top 10 most useful, practical, constructive, funny (at times), bizarre, and possibly useless (?) food trivia of the week, where we ask you the question – What senseless facts do you know about food?

Our attention peeked when we found out what humble vegetable the ancient Egyptians used to symbolize eternity,  or even when we discovered what the U.S. Agricultural department wanted to substitute meat for in school lunches (yikes!). All this and more – including everything you wanted to know about popcorn but were afraid to ask!

  • Did you know… The type of candy most likely to cause tooth decay is dark chocolate and fudge? Apparently the type of candy that causes the least amount of damage are nut or coconut covered candies
  • Did you know… Compared to snack foods, popcorn is low in calories? Air-popped popcorn = 31Cals/cup, and Oil-popped popcorn = 55Cals/cup
  • Did you know... American’s consume 16 billion quarts of popcorn per year? 54 quarts per man, woman and child!
